New markets have opened in Perth's Eastern Region, and PerthTourism.com.au is a-buzz with excitement. On the last Sunday of every month, Old Perth Road in Bassendean is handed over to the locals!
The Rotary Club of Swan Valley and Town of Bassendean have come together to develop and run the markets and feedback we have received tells its own story! The markets are held from 9.00 am to 2.30 pm, on the corner of Old Perth Road and Guildford Road in the heart of Bassendean.
Traffic is banned and stalls set up bedecked with everything! You might find fresh produce grown in Chittering, gorgeous childrens clothes with bright colours, hand crafted jewellery with jade and turquoise, hand made chocolates, face painters, sizzling pizzas. The stalls change and new and hard working artists and crafts people display and sell their produce all morning long.
There is always entertainment, it might be buskers or maybe it will be a jazz band but the markets will always be full of atmosphere and fun. A distinct Bassendean market style with strong community engagement, shows our linkage to our heritage of the Swan Districts Football Club, the railways, the Swan River and our proximity to Guildford and the Perth Hills. The culture of the town today is often described by its village atmosphere and country feel and the local businesses are actively involved.
Parking is easy with lots of free car parks, but take advantage of the train station right in the markets precinct!
