This year NAIDOC Week is being celebrated across Australia from Sunday 5th to Sunday 12th July. The national theme for 2009 is ‘Honouring our Elders, Nurturing our Youth’ to encourage strong links between generations.

The Town of Bassendean, in partnership with the Derbal Yerrigan Health Service, will again present its popular NAIDOC Family Fun Day at Ashfield Reserve on Thursday 9th July, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. This free family event will be a cultural feast featuring music, story-telling, food, stalls, rides, activities and great entertainment. Everyone is welcome to join in and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Indigenous Australians.
