Wildflowers & Scenic Drives - Swan Valley

Whiteman Park Recreation and Conservation Reserve

  • 18km north east of Perth
  • Ten times the size of Kings Park, open woodland, wildlife
  • Marri, jarrah, pricklybark, Banksia, Hibbertias, grass trees


Noble Falls – Walyunga Drive (53km)

  • Travel east along Toodyay Road. Turn left into O’Brien Road. Travel 16km to Walyunga Lookout
  • Sweeping views from the lookout and a walk trail to the Avon River before continuing on Clenton and Berry Roads. Turn right at Toodyay Road to Noble Falls.
  • 12 orchid species, Hakeas, Grevilleas, Isopogons, Petrophiles, Triggerplants, Verticordias.
  • Admission $9.00

 

Walking Trails

  • Aboriginal Heritage Trail (easy 1.2 km, 45 minutes) return walk.
  • Syd's Rapids (medium 5.2 km, 2.5 hour) return walk along the grassy floodplain of the Swan River under shady wandoos and flooded gum. Quiet walkers may be rewarded with sightings of kangaroos and waterbirds.
  • Kangaroo Trail (medium 4 km, 2 hour loop). Traverses granite outcrops with their specially adapted plants and small animals, like geckoes and lizards.
  • Kingfisher Walk Trail (medium, 8.5 km, 4 hour loop) with varied and abundant plant life.
  • Echidna Trail (hard 10.6 km, 5 hour walk) with breathtaking panoramas across the Swan and Avon Valleys and the whole breadth of the park.


FR Berry Drive (42km)

  • Travel east along Toodyay Road for 38km towards Gidgegannup. Turn left into Reen Road travel 8.5kms and FR Berry Reserve is sign posted on the left.
  • Walk and picnic facilities, granite outcrops waterfalls in winter. To reach the Noble Falls Picnic Area, travel 5.5kms to Berry Road, turn right into Berry Road and then right onto Toodyay Road.
  • Wandoo, marri, jarrah and paperbark. Wattles, hibbertia, blue Lechenaultia, Melaleuca, Grevillea, Darwinia, Hovea, kangaroo paw and orchids.
