The paths and tracks surrounding Perth’s iconic Swan River offer walkers the opportunity to tour the historic Town of Bassendean, riverside parks, natural bush or wetland sanctuary reserves in a relaxed fashion with short trails.  Or choose your own path to explore the river foreshore and surrounding local areas.

 

Bassendean Wicked Walks
Three circuit walks ranging from 2.6 – 3kms with options through the historical town of Bassendean, natural bushland, or along the Swan River at Ashfield Flats.

Tour Perth’s Valley of Taste on foot and you’ll not only discover the local wineries, but also the attraction of colonial buildings in the charming town of Guildford and the many longer bushland and wildflower walk trails in the National Parks and surrounds.

 

Bells Rapid Walk Trail
Unique 5.5 kilometre scenic walk along the Swan River with scenic countryside and coastal plain views in a seasonal habitat of grey kangaroos.

FR Berry Walk Trail
Home to several rare and priority flora, the F R Berry Reserve has a 2.7 kilometre walk trail with photos of native fauna and an array of wildflowers for viewing in season.

Gidgegannup Wildflower Scenic Drive Walk Trails
Wildflower and bushland walk trails at Noble Falls, FR Berry Reserve, Walyunga Lookout in the Walyunga National Park and the privately owned Paruna Sanctuary.

Historic Guildford Heritage Walk Trails
Commencing at the Swan Valley Visitor Centre, these three circuit walks range from 450 metres to 1.8 kilometres and pass through the antique strip past historical buildings.

Noble Falls Walk Trail
Mainly flat 3.5 kilometre walk that runs along the Wooroloo Brook with wildflowers in bloom in spring, and a waterfall in winter.

Paruna Sanctuary Trails
Three bushwalking trails of varying length and difficulty located within the Paruna Sanctuary, a private wildlife sanctuary operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Please note: The sanctuary is only open from April to November and bookings are essential.

Wandoo Heights Walk Trail
Two trails with panoramic views of the Swan Coastal Plain in a natural bushland environment, home to a diverse collection of wildflowers.

Please note:  Dieback has recently been identified in Wandoo Heights. Prior to entry ensure all vehicles and footwear are free of soil.  This is a controlled access walk trail. Permission is required from the City of Swan.

Whiteman Park Trails
Whiteman
Park
offers three bushwalking trails ranging from 2.5 to 4.3 kilometres return that pass through bushland and wetland areas.

 Perth Hills

The Perth Hills provides an array of opportunities to serious walkers seeking an outdoor challenge with a wide range of shorter trails and long-distance iconic tracks with beautiful native bush and National Park settings.

 

Bibbulmun Track
WA’s only true long-distance walk trail, that stretches from Kalamunda in the north to Albany in the south.

Kep Track
An off-road 75 kilometre track commencing opposite the Mundaring Weir Hotel and passes through small settlements and towns before concluding in Northam.

Railway Reserves Heritage Trail (loop)
A
challenging, 40 kilometer loop trail, that stretches from Bellevue to Mt Helena and covers a wide range of terrains with scenic views and numerous points of significance.

Lake Leschenaultia Lakeside Trail (loop)
Surrounded by native forest and wildflowers, choose from a 3 kilometre stroll around Lake Leschenaultia, or a 6 kilometre bush walk.

O’Connor Trail (loop)
Commencing from the Mundaring Weir Hall, this 5.3 kilometre trail follows a historic railway formation past a lookout with great views of Lake C Y O’Connor.

Paten’s Brook Track
Commencing at the Perth Hills National Park Centre, this 8 kilometre loop passes through Paten’s Brook campsite and features views of the Weir and Lake C Y O’Connor.

Please note:  The trail goes through dieback infested forest so walkers must clean their shoes when they exit the area to prevent spread of the disease.

Paruna Sanctuary Trails
Three bushwalking trails of varying length and difficulty located within the Paruna Sanctuary, a private wildlife sanctuary operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy.

Portagabra Trail
Named from property owned by the Jacoby family, this 3.8 kilometre circular walk track starts and finishes at Fred Jacoby Park.

Weir Walk
Starting at the No 1 Pump Station, this 1.9 kilometre trail runs across the weir wall, along the original railway zig zag and beside the pipeline.
